Ian Walton, a recent ID grad from the National College of Art & Design in Dublin, goes out with a bang thanks do his awesome Ulo chair design. To accommodate compact living spaces, Walton designed Ulo to be a truly adaptable piece, effortlessly converting from an upright to lounging configuration with one smooth motion, made possible by a flexible frame. Gotta see it to believe it--check out the video below.

Is there a reason why no one sits on it??
Does anyone else think you would tumble out the back of it if you sat down in the upright position? We never get to see someone actually sit in it. Seems to me you'd be on your back in no time.
nice work, but... come on, dare to sit down!
beautiful solution, but he never sits in it... which might validate the concept
Well...I really would like to see someone sitting on this chair!
why doesn't anyone actually SIT on the chair?
That's great until you actually try to sit on it.
Can you also sit in the chair?
Ok, I press the pedal while you sit on the high position chair ! roller coaster !
Wicked idea, but can you sit in it?
but can you sit in it?
um...can you sit in it?
looks great. wonder what happens when you sit in it, though... does it stay in that upright position-or would it collapse with your body weight??
Nice, i can change my chair but can i sit down ?
When I sit down the chair is not going to comply alone ? We see on the video how to change the chair, but never how to use it to sit down !
look i don't want to be a player hater, nobody likes a critic but could you post a film with a real fat ass sitting on this chair to convince me the handy flexy frame won't buckle rapidly back to reclining position when under pressure
Sit in the chair... very cool - but can it support a person? I'm starting to doubt if it can, since that video was a minute of transforming the chair and not using it. Avoidance?
Still, great idea - would love to see it implemented.
sit, sit, sit.
Hello all,
The chair was my final project in ID. The model I built is representational and NOT a prototype.
Believe me I want to sit on it as much as you want to see me sit on it.
The loading on the top flex joint is a moment force of .7 kg/m with a 100KG user. More than easily held in place by the 8mm hardened steel locking shafts.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
