It's not exactly the MoMA, but a gallery showing at Michigan's Washtenaw Community College features work by an impressive lineup of industrial design luminaries, including the Eameses, Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf. "At the Junction: Industrial Design" also takes a close look at Michigan's own Allen Samuels, former Dean of U. Mich's School of Art & Design and a prolific industrial designer. Pictured above is his "Inflatable Solar Energized Disaster Shelter" and "Mobile Personal Hygiene Cart," just two of the objects he's designed among the 29 different corporate clients he's had. Based on the visionary imagination on display in this avenue of "At the Junction," Samuels isn't just working his way through industrial design - he's designing what it will mean to be human in the future. This is a kind of art that can never be finished.
