In celebration Beck's newest release, "The Information," Nooka is giving away this limited edition Zoo watch exclusively on Core77. Only 1000 were made!

Nooka has been effective in taking something conventional (telling time) and putting their own spin on it--similar to what Beck has done throughout his music career.

If you'd like to score this sweet wrist piece, answer the following question in the comments section of this entry before Wednesday, 11/22/2006:

If you could design anything for Beck, what would it be and why?

Think hard. Good luck.

Here's some audio and video of the new single, "Nausea."

MiguelNovember 17, 2006 6:06 PM

I will design a cool hat for giving him a new look. That head needs a pimp hat ;)

NoCalNovember 17, 2006 6:27 PM

I was in an elevator with Beck once in Gatwick airport - he had this small rolling suitcase that looked vintage and all torn up. I would design a sturdy suitcase for his many travels.

MDNovember 17, 2006 6:53 PM

A custom, portable, 2 turntables and a microphone....

MarkNovember 17, 2006 7:07 PM

I would design the ultimate one man band suit. Not just symbols in between your knees but samplers, digital decks, synths. A tech digital one man band suit that only Beck could take to the next level.

Ian WithersNovember 17, 2006 7:08 PM

I think the obvious answer is an album cover. I think cover art can greatly enhance the experience one has when purchasing and listening to an album. While one might say "never judge a book by its cover." I believe music, as an art, is enhanced through visual stimuli as well as audio. Live shows are not entirely about the sound. Neither should your experience listening to an album for the first time.

Apollo LemmonNovember 17, 2006 7:26 PM

Beck is a family man now, and might need some spacious transportation for his child. I'd design an absurdly stylish, yet functional van for the ultimate pop genius dad.

danNovember 17, 2006 7:27 PM

a robotic pirate monkey, that would sit on his shoulder while playing the harmonica. this would make him happy

R.k.November 17, 2006 7:43 PM

Design nothing, the guy is perfect as is.

Miguel K.November 17, 2006 7:46 PM

I would design some jewlery in his style. the guy needs some bling!

joeheartyNovember 17, 2006 8:01 PM

Probably a remote control robotic version of himself. He could use it for awkward social situations and have a bank of funny jokes to break the ice when meeting new people.

Cory O'BrienNovember 17, 2006 8:23 PM

I'd design a custom Nooka watch of course. Beck is definitely the kind of guy who can appreciate a watch that tells time with dots, bars and numbers.

damoniteNovember 17, 2006 8:57 PM

I'd design Beck a dance robot replica of himself so he could pop n lock battle it on stage.

GiancarloNovember 17, 2006 9:06 PM

I would design him a robotic monkey to take around him at the shows to perform with him.

MaxNovember 17, 2006 9:09 PM

A mixture of microphone and wine-glass, so beck can record himself sip-singing.

uoonNovember 17, 2006 9:12 PM

Interactive anamorphic stuffed creature that is light and sound sensitive* for his enjoyment.

Dan MatarazzoNovember 17, 2006 9:23 PM

an ergonomic guitar with a small synthesizer built in to the neck of the guitar. It would be a pressure sensitive lever that would have synthesized music/effects pre-loaded before the concert. By using a lever Beck would still be able to control the guitar strings on the neck, but if he moves one finger over he could also press on the sensor zone to activate that particular synthesized clip. With this small synthesizer at such a convenient position Beck could easily create new sounds to please us all.

JacobNovember 17, 2006 9:37 PM

He needs new larger ASIMO style robotic Breakdancing backup dancers.

JulienNovember 17, 2006 9:38 PM

A nice Beck snow ball (with him inside), which plays the right tune depending on what time it is when you shake it. All wireless of course...

Elisa CarmonaNovember 17, 2006 9:42 PM

A harmonica that lights up according to the notes played on it.

Afro NinjaNovember 17, 2006 9:58 PM

Beck definitely is a multimedia kinda guy, so I'd design him the ultimate portable multimedia device that would allow him to mix music and videos on the road.

hiyomijoNovember 17, 2006 10:04 PM

A smokin jacket that would shoot smoke rings from the sleeves to help kick out the jams! And a delicious turkey sandwich.

Elliot GrassNovember 17, 2006 10:04 PM

I feel only a few people deserve canes; in this case, he qualifies. It would be a standard classic cane, but the handle would be an orb that changes between vivid colors. This meshes the classic and tech styles from the music into an accessory few can pull off. Of course the settings of the colors can be changed, and if there was room, why not throw in a wireless microphone jack at the top for the fun of it, along with dials along the neck of the cane that alters the music? I'd love to see that in use at a concert. Simple but effective.

hiyomijoNovember 17, 2006 10:12 PM

A smokin jacket that shoots smoke rings from the sleeves to help kick out the jams! And a delicious turkey sandwich.

gbNovember 17, 2006 10:15 PM

Beck would get the pinkest one man funk spittin aero-plane on this side of Scotland Yard. It would rock twin-fins just to make people say "ooooh." And that's saying something. And, it would spray out pollution free mistified new-new wave salvation to satiate the yearning masses on the ground. In short, I would design a revelation.

Jean SnowNovember 17, 2006 10:22 PM

Beck has always given me the impression of being some sort of modern-day troubadour (don't know why -- but I could see him doing it), so I think what he needs is the ultimate portable music tool. It would be some sort of all-in-one design, featuring laptop, mixer, keyboard, effects boxes, etc. It would let him quickly set up anwyhere, and create the ultimate mini-gig!

AngeloNovember 17, 2006 10:54 PM

I'd design him the awesomest eye patch. The pirate look is IN and Beck could definitely rock the eye patch. I'm think trippy design, maybe some diamonds... We'll see.

a83November 17, 2006 10:56 PM

Anything he wants/needs.
But I'd ask him what his wants needs are first.
Design is about sound research. (get it 'sound') ;)

praxNovember 18, 2006 12:00 AM

I would love to design new time keeping device sand-filled hour-glass !

RenatoNovember 18, 2006 12:50 AM

Beck's new album, when ordered thru iTunes, comes with the coolest accompanying videos, but... eventually I'll get bored of them.

Let's design a system of cameras and servers capable of streaming Beck's rehearsals, shows and even candid performances directly to a subscriber's iTunes library, and link the videos to their respective songs.

This way my videos would always be refreshed.

For the "extreme version" Beck would wear a pair of network-enabled glasses with a built-in camera, capable of streaming his own point-of-view, live, to the world.

Naturaly, the videos would be saved to YouTube automaticaly and periodically.

And yes, he could turn them off.

Rock on!

tommyNovember 18, 2006 1:21 AM

i would design beck some boobs. everyone needs a nice set of boobs.

Carl MichaelNovember 18, 2006 2:05 AM

I'd make him the 'LingoMan', a device that would automatically translate a language he didn't understand and feed it to his brain. While it translates what he says to any language he wishes to communicate in. Beck has too much to offer the world, and he could reach a zillion more through word and song, with the 'LingoMan'.

YasuNovember 18, 2006 3:11 AM

I will design a pocketable folding silent room. That is to escape from annoying people at any time.

georgeousNovember 18, 2006 4:02 AM

I'd design a map from refreshable e-paper so that Beck always knows where 'it's' at.

MarcoNovember 18, 2006 4:54 AM

I would design for Beck, a New Musical Instrument, so that he can take his genius knowledge of music to use. I would make an electronic instrument that combined one scale from the Piano, Guitar Synth, and Percussion Buttons...he would totally rock out Beck style!!!

jochyNovember 18, 2006 5:57 AM

I would design some shoes in his style. I think Beck is the kind of guy who can appreciate a good pair of shoes.

arsingioNovember 18, 2006 6:24 AM

a wonderful blonde afro curly hair style for his new tour.

davidNovember 18, 2006 6:52 AM

It's gotta be the Beck Beatbox Time Machine

No more samples copyright worries. This baby samples history man!

Saleh AmeriNovember 18, 2006 6:55 AM

I will design a new Beck !!!(Beck 2007).I think he loves his fans and he likes to be the person that his fans want him to be.(personality, characteristic and more...)
A new Beck with his fan's desires.

Saleh from Iran.

Ashley D MengesNovember 18, 2006 7:35 AM

Beck would thrive in the scaled up ant farm I would design for him. This environment would allow him to collaborate with his mates while affording us the opportunity to observe his creative process process.

SteveSNovember 18, 2006 7:58 AM

I would design a line a haircare products for his "Devil's Haircut".

agNovember 18, 2006 8:14 AM

i would design him a waterproof microphone for the shower. which he can use to compose new songs or try out his old ones ...

and maybe we can hear beck's new album live from the shower ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathroom_singing

_tNovember 18, 2006 9:07 AM

A spinable, scratchable, mixable, cool watch surface(retro ipod like) that could mix time, sound, and images in real time all in one sweet device! The watch would also have a mini projector for him to blast images or videos on any wall...would of course have a phat nooka speaker on it as well.

errbNovember 18, 2006 9:08 AM

I would design a wall installation for him but not your average wallpaper...

Ju November 18, 2006 9:16 AM

The devil's haircut

AmandaNovember 18, 2006 10:20 AM

I'd design the most amazing vacation home, complete with recording studio to capture those late night inspirations.

JooLNovember 18, 2006 10:23 AM

Man. i feel that a man like Beck should get a stylish diamond ring as suit his personality and style. Maybe take it a step further and design a "Sun dial" diamond ring.... oooohhhhh a ring that tells time and still shines.

that rythmes.

Konstantin SchmlzerNovember 18, 2006 10:36 AM

I would design a mulit functionable instrument outfit for him like this guys on the street who have plenty of instruments on their body. A harmonica, drums, guitar and ... He has several doctor degrees in music and he is a genious in his genre. He plays so many instruments and on his album most of the instruments are played by himself ... thats why he needs this outfit to play his music live also alone :)

shaniacNovember 18, 2006 10:51 AM

First, I would work with Beck to help him realize the Devils Haircut that is in his mind.

Then on to the real product that he needs, the Ultimate Mr. Microphone. This is not your fathers Mr. Microphone, let me make that clear. The ultimate in style and sound, providing this amazing artist the perfect anywhere performance machine. With top notch audio, voice modulation effects, digital backup singers and chorus. Breakbeats, harmonica, lights, sound effects, scratch pad, and like everything else an iPod input. Having an exclusive look and high performance based ergonomic design no one will be able to replicate this one of a kind device. And since Beck is a tech anomaly the microphone with be wireless with a bullwhip where the cord would have been.

AlexNovember 18, 2006 11:21 AM

A multimedia interface which distributes media such as music to a wide range of audiences and feed the masses at a low to nothing cost to the end consumer.

graham huftonNovember 18, 2006 11:42 AM

A branded leather lined wood veneer sleeve for a anthology of lyrics, images and autobiography. A book that would make the 'ALI' book from Taschen look like a Danielle Steele paper back.
Beck's music is rich with layers of sound and suggested imagery. He is at a point in his career where his body of work could support such a book.

juneticNovember 18, 2006 12:06 PM

Just a simple but high-end digital recorder/pen so he can pickup interesting noises and sounds to sample into his music. Then maybe he could write a few lines of a song if the sound gets him super excited.

JtotheMoNovember 18, 2006 12:13 PM

helmet: to protect hair and block bad vibes

Ozayr SaloojeeNovember 18, 2006 12:24 PM

I'd design a portable Being John Malkovitch portable New Jersey Turnpike Beck Access Portal, so I could potentially (if sober and courageous) see how the dude sees the world. I'd add a jitter-free, hands-free, bluetooth neuro-polaroid camera to take odd photos.

oozimNovember 18, 2006 12:30 PM

i would design a heavy-duty guitar for travel for mr. Beck!

ToddNovember 18, 2006 12:43 PM

I would design a singing action figure of him so everyone could have a performance by Beck on their desk.

zarniNovember 18, 2006 12:46 PM

a boomerang because i want to see a beck throw a boomerang?i wanna see anyone throw a boomerang ,i havent seen anyone use one in my whole life n i just realize dat.

Ben "Hands" HaltmouseNovember 18, 2006 2:16 PM

I would collaborate with Eero Aarnio to design a psychedelic multi colored spaceship (think space odyssey meets the merry pranksters) with matching jump suits to be worn while exploring the far reaches of funk.

Why? Because when I close my eyes and let my mind wonder this is how I envision Beck travels the universe already.

NickNovember 18, 2006 2:33 PM

He is into fans becoming involved with his art. However, his art is very temporary. For posterity of his ideals, I would great a public art peice in which participants can alter, move, change the color of the work, each time presenting a new experience for his fans.

Josh November 18, 2006 5:02 PM

I would design a super sweet couch for him to sit on when he has a bad case of nausea.

quanNovember 18, 2006 6:52 PM

A new chair for him to sit on

ardi kumaraNovember 18, 2006 10:20 PM

I would design an unique Nooka 'beck' watch

matt brownNovember 18, 2006 10:59 PM

I would like to make a line of envelopes for Beck. Right now if you send something out that you need to be private you have to get those envelopes with a blue pattern on the inside. I'd make that pattern hand written song lyrics, or obscure found love letters so if someone held the letter up to the window to try to see what was in it they'd be confused. I think he might enjoy that.

Scott RuizNovember 19, 2006 12:22 AM

I would design a paletero cart that was also an interactive instrument utilizing relative pitch, much like a sitar.

Alexander November 19, 2006 1:52 AM

I would design a wicked tour bus!

A funky exterior would remind Mr. Hansen of an old-school Mexican long distance bus, complete with a Virgen de Guadalupe in the grill, masses of coloured lights and glittering chrome.
The interior would be warm retro minimalism; polished, sophisticated, tecky and highly functional. It would be home away from home and far cry from the usual limousine inspired tackiness of motor home- and tour buss interiors.

I reckon that Beck would truly appreciate a style statement in line with his signature eclectic sensibility and cosmopolitan flair. An international mishmash of cultural references blended into one design, similar only to the groovy feel and the diversity of his music.

eitanNovember 19, 2006 2:50 AM

a new musical instrument!!

Adam BrodowskiNovember 19, 2006 3:46 AM

A portable recording device to record random sounds he encounters while traveling and then mix those sounds on the spot into a song.

JulienNovember 19, 2006 5:28 AM

Beck is the kind of guy for whom you could probably design anything and he'd end up finding a use for it. But...keeping with contest tradition, I'd most certainly design a GIANT size Nooka style wall clock! The kind of wall clock that puts plasma screens to shame. GIANT. Complete with individual LCD screens for each dot/bar so that images and videos or what have you can freely we enjoyed all while keeping track of time the Nooka way.

Nuno HenriquesNovember 19, 2006 6:39 AM

I would design a brand new clip where Beck could group his brand new ideas and sounds! Yeah, something tells me I'm reinventing the wheel.... but what the heck. Simplicity and creativity is everything!!

Emanuel AmaralNovember 19, 2006 6:43 AM

I would design a new microphone that is also a recording device, a comb, a mirror, a sketchpad, an anti-stress thingy and a water recipient.

A super multi-functional-live-act-show device! :)

I bet the roadies will thank him!!

JamesNovember 19, 2006 10:26 AM

A user-friendly sound recorder to record moments of creation

johnNovember 19, 2006 11:33 AM

He does a lot of shows and I always think those onstage mics look clunky and dumb. I'd design a mic/headset that could be inserted into his trademark hat or shirt(s). With all the cellphone technology why hasn't the slimmer smaller mic look effected the music biz?

inkweedNovember 19, 2006 12:16 PM

I want to design some special guitar accessories for him such as Polish Cloth,Pickholder or guitar bags with his image or signature. Because they will remind people his music:)

GUILLAUME CHARBONNEAU19@hotmail.comNovember 19, 2006 12:44 PM

I would design a stick that can modify shape and color of non-living object.

IanNovember 19, 2006 12:46 PM

I'd design Beck his own line of high quality headphones and earbuds so everyone can rock out to his music and enjoy it with the sound quality that it deserves.

JouniNovember 19, 2006 1:21 PM

A stylish car of course, if I had a change! Well, maybe business card would be more realistic :)

Micle Mihai CristianNovember 19, 2006 3:24 PM

I would like to design for him a home because is an expression of the individuality and the soul of the person who lives there, and that home would be a big castle.

MacNovember 19, 2006 3:25 PM

The guys been around. Makes good music, and shares it with people around the world.

I'd design him a pair of shoes. It's amazing how comfortless someone creative (such as Beck) can feel if their feet are not comfortable.

I'd design him a "Beck Shoe."

Sam LowryNovember 19, 2006 3:45 PM

I would design a ukulele covered in blue velvet. The reason: Beck needs to smile more, you can't play a ukulele, let alone a velvet=covered one without smiling.

SebastianNovember 19, 2006 4:42 PM

I think i would design him a interactiv jacket with the new OLED-technologie which can change the surface and the style lik a cameleon .
He could change the look just in type of his mood.

dandesignIsraelNovember 19, 2006 5:13 PM

The most outrageous fabulous hat ever created - because he'd wear it!

bazzaNovember 19, 2006 5:27 PM

I'd design a combi photo printer/signing pen for all those Autograph hunters.

CleverBeaverNovember 19, 2006 5:45 PM

Some sort of consumer-level music layering device where one could sample their own "sound" and just plug it into the Beck song. For instance, you could just say "boom" and replace the kick drum.

Matthew BarberNovember 19, 2006 6:00 PM

If i could design anything I would design a mobile phone that never runs out of battery power (Cellphone's Dead Track 3) Cheers, Matt - London

Matthew BarberNovember 19, 2006 6:03 PM

If i were going to design anything it would have to be a cell phone that never dies. Think its track 3 isn't it Cheers Matt

Galek PeterNovember 19, 2006 6:10 PM

hello,

i would create/design shoes for beck.

it is a product which could be very individual created. you can weare it very offen (like a watch).

individaul and modern..

peter

KAENovember 19, 2006 7:40 PM

I would design a 'subliminal suggestion microphone', with the intent of allowing Beck to sing, yet simultaneously deliver commands instructing his audience to not pirate music.

Why? Well, I think it comes off as a bit goofey for wealthy rock-and-rollers to go on about what piracy costs them (think Metalica... poor baby, you can't afford your second Learjet because of Napster...) However; all of us who make our living from intellectual property deserve to defend our work and profit from it. I think a 'subliminal suggestion microphone' is a great solution. It allows the singer to perform as usual yet simlutaneously admonish their audience to not steal from them, without looking like a wealthy whiner.

The problem would be if such technology made its way into the hands of Barbara Streisand... She would most likely go on long-winded politcal rants without singing a note at all and her audience would be none the wiser. Used in such abusive manners, the audience would be the one who is ripped off.

How would this thing work? Beats me, that wasn't part of the contests...
However; I think Beck could be entrusted to only use such powers for good.

J. WeinsteinNovember 19, 2006 8:13 PM

I would design a reverse e-meter for the lad. There are Scientologists you have no interest in saving -- Kristie Alley, Tom Cruise -- but others like Chick Corea and Beck, they need an intervention. Beck's tremendous, but how to get Theta off his back?

ritNovember 19, 2006 8:27 PM

I think Beck as a musician and songwriter should be able to connect to his fans as prompt as possible. "EGO SURFER" will be the concept, a NOOKA style watch that will show Beck how many FANS he has in order to place and satisfy his EGO. The watch will ambiently connect to BECKS fan portals around the world and will crawl for new fans or logins. So, every hour Beck will get this graphical representation of "unique fans"(new) made in last hour. This watch will be named as "EGO SURFER" as Beck will keep looking at the watch in order to see how many new fans have been added to his fans list in past few hours, in order to satisfy his EGO.

MSDJNovember 19, 2006 9:00 PM

I would design Beck a toilet. His royal ass could really use a proper throne to lay his s*!t down.

PukikyoNovember 19, 2006 9:31 PM

If I design something for Beck, I think it would be a car. It comes without saying that first of all I would need to meet him personally and ask many many questions but even now I can clearly imagine the car I would make him. First of all it would be a completely new model, with the custom design, pretty small outside but spacious inside, the form factor would be close to the Mini or Nissan Figaro or other small but cute cars. As far as Beck is known for creative and extraordinary approach the main aspect behind the design will be creativity and uniqueness. Here is the idea that has never been used in automotive industry to create a car design and a print for the car together making those two parts of visual solution completely connected and integrated into each other.

If we take a usual car even with the custom print, the print itself has no connection with the car design. But in my case the print and design are integrated, lets say the mirrors seem as part of print and the headlights do the same making the print look alive. The print itself is a pattern, pretty close to the Indian prints, yet with more high-tech simplicity and minimalism, it uses the ideas of nature and leaves variations, every single part of a print like a small leave like form for example is connected to another making the whole print the big picture where the car windows, doors or lights are included becoming one piece. The bottom color of the car it white with the black print. The combination that suites every situation or place.

The form of the car is timeless, it is based on classic old cars with round lights and cute, not aggressive forms. Yet at the same time it has high-tech traits, from the lines and simplicity of exterior to the highly computerized interior with indicator board made completely out of screen yet with the menu design made in the same unique style as the car print.

More over the car becomes a fashion object because of the umbrella included into the set. Usual from the point of functionality the umbrella has the same black and white color theme and the same print as the car. Making it a drivers selection at its best.

KelwynNovember 19, 2006 10:44 PM

I think Beck needs a portable, fold up
(to paperback size) musical keyboard to help him compose more of his awesome music while he travels. It should be able to let him sync back to his Mac and import all his new music into GarageBand or similar. Built in display for selecting, editing and deleting recordings, and both headphone and audio-out and speakers for either solo listening or impromptu concerts.

edgar viztovNovember 19, 2006 11:12 PM

I'd design a Capture the Moment (CtM) device that would allow Beck to instantly sample sights and sounds that catch his whim, in glorious high-definition. Those magic moments could then be mixed into whatever crazy media he chooses.

Why? The guy has something to show the rest of us, and this would help him get the job done.

A man of his resources could probably get this device implanted in his head, but a killer pair of designer CtM shades would play considerably better in the media.

w loganNovember 20, 2006 12:28 AM

Beck needs new autumn fur shoes.

palindromeNovember 20, 2006 1:35 AM

a set of holographic neckties because he's such a stylish guy
(design of floating harmonicas, visual portrait of east LA (the town he grew up in), the words "odelay!", etc)

IanNovember 20, 2006 2:20 AM

A codpiece to protect his white gold—Plus, Becks always setting trends— I think he should rock a codpiece.

DanNovember 20, 2006 4:03 AM

probably a storefront

i really like navigating through the website and if i could bring that experience into real life that would be awesome.

martin lindNovember 20, 2006 5:04 AM

A magic multi-color tophat

Peter CharlesworthNovember 20, 2006 7:53 AM

A titanuim gord studded with diamonds, rubies and guitar picks, with a 'V' in the end of it to rest his mike/guitar neck while he struts. I might include a few high output laser diodes on a rotating bezel half way along it so he could level his paving or plumb his wallpaper on his day off.

Nuno HNovember 20, 2006 8:02 AM

I would design a new Nooka watch and this way I would present it myself to Beck!! Something like a re-gift. It's fancy!!

EMCNovember 20, 2006 8:26 AM

An air-conditioned glitter-dusted Flokati suit with Chewbacca-leather Brogans. Word.

Sinan YucelNovember 20, 2006 9:48 AM

I would design a device that translates Beck's thoughts directly into music. Waowzy! It would make the creation process much easier for him and that would make the rest of us happy, too.

mikeNovember 20, 2006 10:12 AM

I would design his Scientology space ship so he can return to the planet in style.

dnNovember 20, 2006 10:18 AM

I would design a pair of elephant pants (non-elephant parts). We'd need to make a cast for them and they'd weigh no less then 200 lbs. The skin would be six inches thick. It would be hard to get up if you fell down in them but just hard to actually fall down. For some reason, when I see Beck, I think of an elephant. Besides, who doesn't want a pair of elephant pants, seriously? Prosthetic trunk optional.

PaulNovember 20, 2006 10:36 AM

His latest work involves various sounds from the home. If he want's to play the spoons, I would design a custom set of spoons in an entire scale with different finishes to effect tone. A possible accessory would be a MIDI kneepad to add that extra boost of electronica.

Philip kNovember 20, 2006 10:51 AM

I'd design Beck a microphone

eekNovember 20, 2006 10:59 AM

i would design him a new cutting edge hairdo :)

ZachNovember 20, 2006 11:04 AM

I'd design beck a powdered wig to go with his new (old) look. I think that powdered wigs are wildly underrated and under-utilized in this hyperfuturistic age that we've created. And Beck clearly knows the value of using the right things from the past (nice ascot!), so I think he might appreciate powdered wig.

I think that I'd have to design one of each -- a "classic" style with curls and perhaps a bias cut shocking straight wigh as well. Since Beck is today's Andy Warhol, he might as well look the part.

CharlieNovember 20, 2006 11:10 AM

I would design a Beck filter for PhotoShop that would add little details to any picture which would make it fit the Beck Aesthetic. It would add flying buffalos and robots with Southern accents and any other visual under the sun one could think of. They would be randomly placed in the image, that way he could control the Beckness of his photos.

AllenNovember 20, 2006 11:34 AM

I would love to design a guitar for beck. It would look like a giant Spork.

omkarNovember 20, 2006 12:05 PM

I would design beck a new "bean bag", which has a reputation for being "imagination-inducing". Xerox PARC [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parc] employees were among the scientists/artists/innovators who used bean bags for "innovative thinking". I think this is the most important thing any artist would need.

fischmanNovember 20, 2006 12:06 PM

I would design a Bender washboard robot that would play backup washboard to Beck. As seen in the Futurama episode "Bendin' in the Wind".

ScottdNovember 20, 2006 12:21 PM

I would design a cool record box complete with a light and sound show for children. Their music is very groovy!

BixarroNovember 20, 2006 12:26 PM

I'd design a helmet surrounded by a flexible screen that allowed his fans to see more tahn his face, some of his thinkings.

waddupyoNovember 20, 2006 12:43 PM

Pimp boots, shorty, Pimp boots! Purple, mirrors, glass mid-soles with gold-fish swimmin, and spinners, fo-sho!

BartNovember 20, 2006 1:18 PM

A small genie lamp he could relax in and write music, cause he's tiny enough to fit in one.

ewangdesignNovember 20, 2006 2:49 PM

I think of all the realms His Beckness has conquered, he needs to slay the vinyl world with a sick, sick figure. Taking cues from his album it could be DIY customizable.

Justin WolffNovember 20, 2006 5:45 PM

I would design a gesture

n : a BECK-oning gesture

paulNovember 20, 2006 5:59 PM

i'd design an idea, a jumping point for a song or an album. to have collaboration and most likely a free CD would be ultimately more rewarding than a watch.

MzoNovember 20, 2006 6:22 PM

i would design a world but not all base on his thinking. The why? because the reallity the world is living today.

omerNovember 20, 2006 6:56 PM

I think beck should have a scepter. first because he is a king, second he is a conductor, and third he is like a magician chaiging characters and styles

BluttNovember 20, 2006 9:22 PM

definatly two turntables and a microphone on a belt/suspenders. the turntable on the belt 1 on each side of the hook and mini-mics built into the suspenders. thay way he can drop beats while walkin down the street!

Samuel WearneNovember 20, 2006 10:00 PM

The man is as different as they come so he would need something totally different. I would design him a suit jacket and pants with exposed fibre optic ends embedded in the fabric. The ends are small enough not to be noticed to the naked eye when turned off. It would be able to stream text, pictures and light patterns across the surface of the suit. The whole shebang would be controlled by his pinstripe-colourcoded custom Nooka watch. Think about it....Becks Technicolour Dream-suit!

cory WorthNovember 20, 2006 11:34 PM

I would design the next generation pink flamingo for Beck's lawn. After all, they recently stopped manufacturing the old one. Who better to repressent the new and improved pink flamingo than Beck!

VanessaNovember 21, 2006 5:04 AM

I would design a digital pen that allowed him to draw his free-style artwork over anything, including skin. The benefits are: no messy ink, no clean-up, easy-transfer. The pen would then store the motions it went through to complete the picture, and through connecting it to a computer, you could upload drawings.

DVNovember 21, 2006 5:59 AM

I feel that since the man is a bit eccentric, the one item in his house that isn't obvious but probably needs a re-design is his toilet. Retro colors, Japanese-style contoured warming-seat covers; to plug the sponsor, a clever Nooka timepiece in the toilet paper dispenser. Beat your old time!

audiowhoreNovember 21, 2006 6:51 AM

I would design dancing shoes for beck, which had motion capture sensors inside them.

The sensors would be used to capture becks dance moves and then be recorded using computer software, which then could be used to control visual minipulations of becks moves or teach others his moves so they he can have a super crew of support dancers,

This design could be used in other areas to teach or research foot movements.

JenNovember 21, 2006 10:54 AM

I would design a wand for him. A wand that would wave him and his sister along with her husband Giovanni Ribisi out of the Scientology haze.

kiana November 21, 2006 10:54 AM

Beck is all about art for the masses and listeners and viewers contributing their own vision to his work. I would design Beck a portable, miniature paint by number coloring book with each one of his album covers inside. this way, he would always have a piece of his own original art to give away...and whoever was lucky enough to get one could add to it.

Jeremy BNovember 21, 2006 11:50 AM

I would design him a gum dispensing bow tie. It looks like he would like to chew gum and wear bow ties at the same time. (the bow tie would not need to be tied).

TimNovember 21, 2006 12:15 PM

I work for a prosthetic/orthotic facility and would create a pair of custom shoes to keep him comfortable while on the go, and look cool to boot.

WANNovember 21, 2006 12:28 PM

for Beck I would have to design some kind of a "mother" recording device and media that would be able to record and overwrite "clone" (mp3 - wma) files every time he decides to change it or edit it. This way he will be able to do his Ever Changing Audio album from Infinite Sound Industries -

IanNovember 21, 2006 3:36 PM

I'd design his house. Mainly because I'm an architect and thats what I do, but also because I would imagine that he is not the type to live in some craps-man villa. No straight walls in Beck's house. There would be walls that move, furniture that appears to float, and a variety of spaces that attempt to warp temporal perceptions. Music is a great inspiration for design, and Beck's house would be an architect's dream.

HenryNovember 21, 2006 3:40 PM

I'd design Beck a nice line of shoes to coordinate with his unique style. It's gotta be the shoes, who doesn't dig the shoes? He can wear a pair in the house, outside relaxing, or in concert. I'd get him a pair for any occasion. You can't go wrong with that!

JKNovember 21, 2006 4:37 PM

I would design a ring that he could wear that would also allows him to record sounds so when he hears something he likes or gets and idea he can record it there on the spot and take it home to the studio. It would have thin detachable faces, like a plastic white rabbit, gold guitar, silver harmonica, etc. so he could match it with what he's wearing.

mdsNovember 21, 2006 5:09 PM

I would design a device he could point at potential girlfriends that would be able to tell him the amount of damage she would do to his emotional health and it would approximate the quality of music he could produce because of such a heart wrenching experience. There would also be secondary measurements that would tell him what type of music she would help him create, acoustic, electronic, etc. so he could get just the balance that he wanted out of his heartache. I feel some of his best work comes from relationship issues and having a machine that would tell him who would give him the most musical "baggage" may sway him one way or another on certain individuals.

RyanNovember 21, 2006 8:13 PM

Personally I would design a group of animatronic puppet masters for his world tour. These puppet masters would do the same job as his human counterparts but with a little more flare. What better than seeing numerous robots controling puppets on a jumbo screen?

gailNovember 22, 2006 12:06 AM

I would design a clear vinyl record with guitar strings curled all around in it. I think it suits his modern style, with an ode to the past.

chrisNovember 22, 2006 3:16 AM

i would design beck a device that would allow him to control his guitar/instrument/voice effects by the motion and position of his body.

Yong hee ChoNovember 22, 2006 12:27 PM

instrument made with trash can, bucket, etc. Maybe He compose great music with them

krishan aroraNovember 22, 2006 12:54 PM

The one thing any creative artiste like Beck always needs, besides fame and affluence, is that spark of inspiration to come up with the next super performance. I would therefore design for him a special, portable, personal computer that would not only be a storehouse of all musical performances but would also have the sample notes and sounds of all the music instruments from the whole world, and which would then be able to create for him, at the touch of a button, the first few bars of whichever genre of music he maybe in the mood for, eg rock, blues, fusion etc. This would then give him just the inspiration needed on which he could then build up to get the whole musical offering - and that shouldn't be too hard for a genius like him!

ThierryNovember 22, 2006 10:47 PM

A trophy.

I remember, when I heard about him for the first time, he was a looser, baby. I was a kid and I was pretty sad about it. You know I was saying to myself that the guy was not bad at all. The trophy would be as smart as a tree. Like a tree, Beck started modestly and he now has ramifications in all directions, but with a sense of harmony, reaching light from the sky in a maximal output.

James RoeNovember 22, 2006 10:53 PM

Damn, I just came across core77 today and therefor missed this contest. However, had I been here in time I would have designed beck a playable piano tie. Imagine him scrolling his avantgarde tackery as he launched into the complex tones of yet another post rock classic.

GGNovember 23, 2006 8:47 AM

Daily, his thoughts and experiences would be challenged and captured in a Memoir book, designed for his lifestyle.

rommelNovember 23, 2006 11:58 AM

I would design a new home for Beck. Something that evokes his retro/modern spin of his taste in clothing and music. His music reminds me of the easy going lounge style lifestyle.

mortezaNovember 23, 2006 1:42 PM

I want to design a new and special texture for his guitar body and a new mask for his face!

LeilaNovember 23, 2006 1:44 PM

I will design kind of moving device for him so he may travel within the scene from side to side when he sing and play.

alexander November 25, 2006 9:48 PM

So, who got the watch?!

IanNovember 27, 2006 7:36 PM

who won?

Marlon KingOctober 9, 2007 1:49 PM

I would design an instrument that combines the sounds of multiple instruments so you can get the total package from just this one. Since Beck plays many instruments this one would be greatly appreciated by him because it would incorporate the various aspects of many instruments that he loves.
