Dear Front Design,
Thanks a zil for showing us something truly new and awesome!
Motion capture technology records lines drawn in the air then translates them to a 3D file. Using this file, a laser solidifies liquid plastic, layer by layer, resulting in a physical prototype of the original sketch.

Absolutely amazing, now give this tech to some people who can draw, and then think of the possibilities.
They can draw, trust me, the problem is rather that you can't see what you drawn.
The precision is therefore down the drain.
And I can't see the Wow in this, it's just like a big unprecise 3D arm and those been around for a while.
I was actually thinking it would be more interesting to trace around a person in a specific position, sitting on air... or a chair. Then you would have some kind of template. You could just trace an existing 3d object, and probably get something pretty interesting.
I can't see the point. An inefficient and expensive way of form-finding.
Just perfect technique. the result can be really interesting no matter what you are trying to do. Really awesome!!!!!
the technology may be old.. but no one really thought of bringing it to the masses. The WOW factor is the innovation and simplistic use. The future has many possibilities: Once the motions are captured, a instant trimmming of rough edges can give you a smooth finished product.
i see this as enpowerment of masses ...Grey matter to solid matter...IKEA beware..
it still has a long way to go..but nonethe less..its innovation thats important.
