Mark Frauenfelder, editor-in-chief of MAKE magazine and co-editor of Boing Boing, paid a visit to RIT last week to give a talk and host a makers-workshop. President of RIT MAKE club, Christopher Tomkins-Tinch, caught Mark on tape demonstrating his newly constructed stringed instrument.

This portable instrument is made from mostly found objects: the neck is an old table leg, the frets are wooden matchsticks. Uke pegs and strings are set to a drone tuning that you'll hear in the video. Though Mark's not plugged in, note the pick-up made from a deconstructed piezo buzzer and the pick-guard made from an inch of yard stick. All and all, it's a lovely little hack for both sound and vision. Check it out.
