A New Zealand news video has an interview with Jane Fulton Suri, Worldwide Director of Human Factors Design and Research at California-based IDEO, as she conducts observation research. In their design process, Suri and Ideo forgo the di rigeur focus groups and interviews and instead engage in something like intense people-watching.
Suri is the author of "Thoughtless Acts," a picture book that invites readers to see if they can come to conclusions about people's mindsets and design preferences by closely observing what they are doing in the pictures.
