From the Vault presents Stewart Hicks and Allison Newmeyer, cofounders, Design with Company, in conversation with Sean Anderson, Associate Curator, Department of Architecture and Design, MoMA.
Automobile pistons, a bearing spring, boiling flasks, Oscar Niemeyer's Beach House Project, Gaetano Pesce's Up 5 Lounge Chair, Neri Oxman's Imaginary Beings. What do these things have in common? They are all in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art. The From the Vault series invites practicing architects, designers, and scholars to explore the 30,000 works in MoMA's Architecture and Design holdings and use them as a platform for in-depth analysis and discussion. Invited speakers work with curators to explore MoMA's repository of modern architecture and design to present new perspectives that speak to both pressing personal questions and larger collective and social issues. From the Vault seeks to shed light on the collection and related exhibitions to create a dynamic public discussion on architecture, urbanism, and design.
Conversations take place in the fourth-floor exhibition From the Collection: 1960–1969. Please use the Film entrance to The Ronald S. and Jo Carole Lauder Building, east of the main entrance on 53 Street.
