MAMO is a masterpiece of Le Corbusier and has become a showcase and a springboard for future creation, such as Felice Varini's Open Air. Varini has painted a series of patterns onto MAMO's concrete surfaces which, when viewed from certain angles, form recognizable geometric shapes. While Varini is used to creating these types of exhibits, this show is no simple optical puzzle. Varini's red and yellow murals force the viewer to engage with both the space and the painting, seeing a perfectly formed image at one angle, and an imperfect form from another.
