Punkake, a design studio from Italy, recently competed the design of the "Speciale Salone del Mobile" line, which makes sure you're on time and your home is clean. The Lunchtime table is a table/watch, which makes
sure you're on time for your important meeting right after lunch, and you don't have to check your wristwatch every five minutes. The Sapone nel Mobile sofa keeps your home clean, and when moving time comes, a watering hose is all

Express Pattern, in a pinch, provided the final four prototypes for the Core77 International Design Competition exhibit last month in NYC. At the last minute the competition organizers (Core77) found themselves needing some
very rapid prototyping services to showcase models of the winning entries. Express Pattern was able to get the stereo lithography models formed and shipped practically overnight.

Customr, a design studio from Netherlands, have been awarded 3 times winner at the European Design Competition 'Lights of the Future' for their Customr Greenlight Collection. The winning designs were Lily Eau, an outdoor
lamp that floats, Biodomestic, a cable lamp that can be linked to another, Flat, a flat suspension fixture that can be closed as a book.

Pilotfish, a design studio with Germany and Taiwan offices, launched their Pacebook at the CeBIT 2002, which had won the best of CeBIT 2001 and VARVision 2000 awards. Pacebook, designed for Paceblade, is a new concept in
moblie computing, combining the functions of a Notebook, LCD PC and Tablet PC. The ergonomic and convenient notebook works in both landscape and portrait modes, and recognizes handwriting and voice.

The Shining Shelf, designed by Johannes Carlstrom Design of Stockholm, Sweden, is a new lamp or shelf where you can highlight your favorite objects on the top and hide the other stuff inside. The shelves are acrylic plastic
swept with white fringe hiding a flourescent lamp, and the legs and support are tubular steel.

Stuart Karten Design, a Los Angeles based ID firm, received a Good Design award and an iF award for their design of the CyberCartridge - a smart-toy peripheral that enables the downloading
of musical content from the internet to be used with existing toys. The CyberCartridge docking station with flash memory cartridge is manufactured by Neurosmith Corporation.

Designfenzider, a design studio in New York, introduced six news products at the Museum of Modern Art Design Stores. Among the six products were: Platform + Border = Fruit Bowl, the
reconstructed fruit bowl, X-Trivet, the minimallly designed trivet and the vase series: Starting with a sealed tube #1-#4.

Bluelounge and Dune launched "40love", the versatile object which can be used as a stool, ottoman, bench or storage. 40Love, designed by Bluelounge and manufactured
by Dune, is made from moulded plywood and asssembled like a tennis ball.

Vestigio and Plácido Afonso Design from Portugal, recently completed the "Fresh Seat for Hot Life", their limited edition white ceramic stool. The stool is a new
vision of the "Pop" language of the sixties and an homage to Eero Aarnio and Eero Saarinen.

Mike Simonian Design, from San Francisco, California, won the first place at the Plutonium Memorial Competition with the "24110" project. 24110 is a proposed monument to the
shortsightedness of the U.S. energy policy, designed to accomodate 500 tons of nuclear waste in Washington D.C.

The Epson Gemini cart, developed by Modo, Inc. of Portland, Oregon, for
Epson America, Inc., organizes and houses a turn-key portrait printing
system for professional photographers. It is a collaboration with design
teams in Tokyo, Los Angeles and Portland. The Gemini cart hides a nest of
cables and components with simple, clean lines. It is maneuverable and
intuitive, with two aluminum extrusions that frame the sides and serve as
convenient handles. The enclosed architecture organizes, simplifies and
combines.

JWilson Design, a California design studio, recently completed the Robotic Submarine Control Console for Alstom Automation / Schilling Robotics. The project, started out as four rack
cabinets full of equipment and monitors, resulted in an innovative console with manipulators using digital hand controllers, LCD touch screens and a pull-out cup holder " borrowed" from a '99 Audi TT.

Studio Platform, a London-based design studio, designed pp, their new line of plastic houseware products for Muji Europe. The Fluent Bag Bin, a plastic bin which encourages the re-use
of the common shopping bag as a bin liner. The Travel Hanger,
born after Studio Platform's wearable hanger project, folds into an envelope size for easy portability in pockets and luggage.
Studio Platform are now developing their "Better Umbrella" which won the International Muji Innovative Design Award in 2001.

E-M Designs, a product design and development firm based in California, launched the Elements Fire & Ice Collection of cabinet knobs, hooks and drawer pulls. The Element: Ice knobs,
made of clear acrylic, come in five shapes: triangle, diamond, star, circle and pentagon. The Elements: Fire products, made of anodized aluminum, come in various sizes, shapes, colors and thicknesses of the Fire components, which
can be added on top of one another to build custom knobs and hooks.
