L 3 is a light object that is controlled by playing with a metal sphere and magnetic fields.
r l o n - Designers
The Berlin design studio r l o n creates objects and installations characterized by minimal aesthetics, playful interactions and poetic motions. Our works arise out of a particular interest in meta physics, spatial cognition and experiments with materials and processes.
L3 provides a very playful interaction, seducing us to touch and sense it on an almost intimate level.
It is controlled just by placing a metal sphere in different magnetic fields on its surface. Representing the energy source of the system, the smooth and reflecting sphere with it's confident weight invites us to play with it and feel the gravity towards the center of the light ring.
Both illuminant and interface thereby become protagonists of a geometric staging.
Dam. Can I play pinball with that metal sphere?
With the 'Atlas Clip-in Overshoe' commuter cyclists can now reap the many benefits of clip-less cycling pedals without having to carry another pair of shoes, or subsequent bags. Rather than changing in and out of their cycling shoes, cyclists can wear the 'Atlas Clip-in Overshoe' on top of their existing
The Compound Camera is a twenty-foot inflatable installation composed of 109 pinhole cameras, each of which projects a slightly different view of the surrounding environment onto its interior surface. The structure's flexible fabric invites visitors to push on and distort the projected images, allowing them to play with the fundamental
Every year, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) challenges teams composed of students from all around the world to conceive innovative living machines to tackle contemporary issues. The iGEM competition for international Genetically Engineered Machine aims to promote research in synthetic biology through the projects invented by the hundreds of
Revolve was invented and designed by Andrea Mocellin with the aim to be the first modular wheel, which in turn will open new frontiers for the present and future of foldable vehicles. Moving is a challenge between time and space. It was in the past, it is in the present and even more so in the future.
