In my 20s, I had a friend in Manhattan who lived on West 28th Street, directly above a nightclub. From 10pm to 4am it was absolutely deafening inside her apartment. She didn't live there long.
Maybe she could've used a pair of these. Australian engineer Oliver Masson invented this Blisstil Serenade, a cross between a wraparound pillow and noise-canceling headphones.
They cover your ears, support your neck and are, the company says, comfortable enough to sleep in; some 90% of the object is foam, and even when you're on your side, your ear doesn't actually touch the earcup, as it's cradled within a cavity in the foam.
The battery life is 20 hours. And even if you fall asleep while playing music, your partner won't hear it; the Serenade is designed to keep noise from leaking out as well.
Demand has been through the roof. On Kickstarter, the device has landed $791K in pledges, with one day left in the campaign. Units start at $259 and are scheduled to ship in December.
