Last Sunday, consumer activists organized by Carrotmob headed to Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood to reward the local hardware store Tarzian with their patronage for agreeing spend 22 percent of the day's profits on energy improvements.
Carrotmob brings together consumers and businesses to benefit the planet. Believing that a little bit of money can elicit a large amount of change, Carrotmob uses the "carrot" of consumer purchasing power to entice businesses to become more green.
This was the first Carrotmob event in New York, previous events have taken place in San Francisco, Kansas City, and Bristol, England.
