We're digging Design Affairs' Swirl concept, which is similar to Project H's Hippo Roller except that rather than transporting water, the Swirl's job is to clean clothes. After filling the rubbery sphere with water and detergent, the user rolls the thing around via a handle, using perambulation to provide the spin cycle.

And for the football-inclined, you can even get in a little joga bonito.

bet they never stepped out of their office when they conceived of this brilliant idea.
Brilliant concept!
My tumblr comment:
"The moment I saw this, it morphed into a fusion concept in my mind with a baby stroller for green customers concerned about sustainability. All of the suburban moms, dads, & childcare pro’s who walk the baby/babies every day for exercise, socializing, etc. are a ready-made market. Three-wheel strollers are already pretty common. Imagine taking the baby & their clothes for a walk/wash. When they get home, they could put the wash in the dryer or for the hard-core hang-up on clothing lines."
And how are the clothes rinsed? very disrespectful.
I'm sorry but lately it seems you are struggling to find decent stuff to post, this seems so arrogant, very poor people in third world countries wouldn't have money for this, or detergent or access to clean water. The designer displays a total lack of research of the user. Also a huge sphere full of water would be impossibly heavy to kick.
Superb idea, not sure it is the next wind up radio or solar powered oven though. M.
It is funny how this kind of solution is aimed at developed countries as if kids in these countries were willing to "play" while doing the laundry. Why can't the kids in developed countries do some "joga bonito" instead?
This idea lacks everything but the ability to provoke..
And on that point; brilliant!
A energy efficient washingmachine uses 100 liters of water to rinse a handfull of clothes.. a 100 kg+ "ball" is certainly not for my kids to play with.. ;-)
