When I hear the words "space-tight" I think of Manhattan or Hong Kong, not some floating village off the coast of Thailand. But Koh Panyee is one such village, and its complete lack of soil makes Venice look like Nevada.

In 1986 the kids on Koh Panyee, with no access to a patch of land, decided to build their own floating soccer pitch. The video below was funded by a Thai bank for commercial purposes and it is cheesily if amusingly re-enacted, but it purports to be the true story of that floating soccer pitch and the amazing results that ensued. It's well worth a watch:
