With a long list of victims and a written message stating "1/4 of car accident victims are pedestrians," this zebra crossing intends to shed light on the fact that car accidents don't always happen inside the vehicle. Ironically, it's kinda counterproductive since it distracts pedestrians from paying attention to traffic.
thanks martijn!

This has got to be one of the dumbest ideas I have ever seen! I can't wait until they start adding in dividing lines with the names of the people who are killed but looking at the names on the ground instead of paying attention to the freaking road!!!!!!
In Colombia, there was a similar project called black stars, in which a blach star was placed where an accident ocurred, anyways this project has a "funcional" value!
Talk about the lack of responsibility in design. The purpose of this excercise/crosswalk is to make pedestrians aware of the danger in crossing the street. Sure it works. BUT... No doubt a high amount of these accidents are of people crossing in unprotected zones. The designer is preaching to the choir; you know those responsible enough to use these safety features (crosswalks). Moreover he/she is endangering these responsible citizens by diverting their attention to the ground and not to possible oncoming traffic. For Shame!!!
